Q:  Do you do "normal" yoga for women and men?
A:  No, I specialise in Pregnancy and Postnatal/Mum and Baby yoga, having trained at the Active Birth Centre.

Q:  I have never tried yoga before.  Is it OK to start now, during pregnancy?
A:  Yes, from 14 weeks up until your baby is born.  The yoga practised is very gentle and many people who attend haven't tried it before either.

Q:  I am nearing the end of my pregnancy. Is it worth coming along to only a few classes before my baby arrives?
A:  Yes, you can benefit from even a few classes.  You will practise healthy breathing, relaxation and labour preparation that will be enjoyable, useful and be fresh in your mind as you approach birth.

Q:  I am not very flexible.  Will I be able to do the yoga?
A:  A common mis-conception is that you need to be skinny and super-flexible to do yoga.  This isn't true; it's more a case of what you get gain from the practise, rather than "how far".  The gentle nature of the pregnancy yoga takes things slowly and as everyone is different, adaptions are often made.

Q: I am only 15 weeks pregnant.  I am only just beginning to get used to being pregnant, let alone think about the birth.  Is this the right class for me?
A: Coming to weekly classes gently introduces you to - then gradually builds on - information, positions and breathing, all relevant to pregnancy, labour and becoming a mum.  Women near their due date usually relish the labour moves and breathing, but those earlier on in their pregnancy may really feel the benefit from the stretches, relaxation and getting to know other women.  As the weeks pass, you will then be one of those "experienced" mums-to-be who you noticed when you first joined, and those who start classes early on in their pregnancy often gain the most benefit.

Q: I work shifts and cannot commit to the same weekly class each week.  Is it possible to swtich classes or book only those I can come to?
A: Generally, classes are block-booked and paid for monthly in advance (or there is a "drop-in" option for those who can come less often).  However, if you would like to attend regularly but work a shift pattern, as long as you can let me know in advance, you can book and attend the dates and venues that your work allows.  Please feel free to enquire about this if it is relevant to you, or if other circumstances mean you would like to make other arrangements.
