Q:  I am booked to do some antenatal classes at the local hospital.  Is it worth attending an Active Birth Workshop as well?
A: It will certainly give you and your partner more empowerment and knowledge about how a natural birth unfolds and how you can help that process.
This workshop can be attended instead of, or in addition to, other antenatal classes and courses.

Q:  My husband is not going to be my birth partner, my sister is. Can my sister come to the workshop?
A: Yes, all birth supporters are welcome, whether they are your mother, friend, same sex partner, or doula.  It is helpful if the person attending with you will be your main support during labour, or will at least be sharing that role.

Q:  I have already had a child.  Is this workshop suitable for second-time mums?
A:  Yes, the workshop can be attended by parents who have already had a baby.  Sometimes it can be really helpful if you want a more positive birth this time compared to your previous experience, or simply to have a "refresher" and get in the zone.

Q:  I have a medical condition which means I am likely to be induced and have a managed labour.  Yet I am keen to do things as naturally as possible within this setting.  Are these workshops suitable for me?
A:  Yes, the information, advice and practical learning in these workshops will still help to see you through medical intervention (emergency or planned), although sometimes a private session with you and your partner may be more appropriate, depending on your specific circumstances.

Q: I am not sure about a natural birth; I have heard how good epidurals are and think they seem to be the easier and best option.  Is there any point in me coming to an Active Birth Workshop?
A: If you would like to find out about natural alternatives, why and how much active birth can benefit you and your baby on many levels, then a workshop could well be for you, before you make any decisions about your birth plan.

Q:  I am really interested in attending the workshop but not sure I can afford it.  Are any discounts available?
A:  To confirm your place on a workshop, a non-refundable deposit is required.  For those who are in genuine need (e.g. very much want to attend but in financial difficulty), a discount can usually be arranged, or at least payment in installments.  Please feel free to ask and I will try to help where I can.
